I got into advertising because I like to write.

I love inventing voices and shaping worlds and being scalpel-precise with tone.  I love helping companies say the thing they’ve been struggling to say. I really love finding words that curl into people’s minds and—whoa—change what they think or how they act.

For eight years, I did that for Apple. I was the lead writer on the launch of the iPhone, making new and unfamiliar technology sound friendly, smart, and human. I wrote the “There’s an app for that” campaign, which was a meme before memes were a thing.

Words are magic. You can’t trap them or weigh them or hold them in the palm of your hand. And yet you need them to build—anything. Everything. Words are free, they’re powerful, they’re dangerous, they’re easy to waste. Words should be wielded with care.

I’m a writer. If your brand is finding its voice, please get in touch.
